Three ways to plan
Casino hotel trip ideas: with kids, for the spa, for a show
Checked against sources · page revised
Most casino-hotel trips start with something other than the casino: a family weekend, a spa break, a concert ticket. Below is one list per reason, each hotel with its stay score and a map link. The notes come from our stay sheets, so every fact is sourced there.
Canada's best casino hotels for families
Most casino hotels take children; the age rule covers the floor and some bars, not the hallway or the pool. Two questions decide it: will the kids have something to do, and — in one case — are they allowed past the lobby? Our order for families:
River Cree

From 29 July 2024, under-18s with a grown-up can use everything but the gaming areas. Number one for families because of the two NHL-size rinks with public skates, the Luxury Family Suite, a pool and whirlpool, and a free five-minute bus to West Edmonton Mall.

The only no-go zone for kids is the 19+ casino. Children under twelve need a parent in the water. Day plan: Bird Kingdom, the Butterfly Conservatory, Clifton Hill — all close. Breakfast with the falls in the window doesn't hurt either.
Great Canadian Toronto

A 19-plus guest books; kids stay with them. Book the 2-Bedroom Suite for six (microwave, fridge); swim, then hot tub; watch the Woodbine races next door, usually at no charge.
River Rock

The slide is the kids' first stop; some restaurants are listed as all-ages; Vancouver is a train ride away for the day. One condition: the adult who checks in has to be 19 or over.
Casino NB (Moncton)

Under-19s can't book, but they can share an adult's room, and a grown-up has to watch under-12s at the pool. Day trips to Magnetic Hill and its zoo, or out to Hopewell Rocks, keep the whole crew busy.
Grey Eagle
Stay score 76 · Calgary (Tsuut'ina Nation) · Alberta · Map listing ↗
Two-queen Standard rooms are the hotel's family pick, all ages can attend Event Centre shows, and both Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park are a short drive. With the pool closed by renovation, guests swim at city pools for free instead.
Not with kids
Rule out Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa with kids: 19+ applies from the lobby to the restaurants. Caesars Windsor half-works: the Augustus Tower targets families and the Colosseum lets most shows admit all ages, yet the only pool is for adults.
Canada's best casino hotels for spa and pool time
For this trip the treatment room comes first and the tables a distant second. Below: what each hotel says about its pool, spa and gym — and what is shut at the moment.

First choice: Amerispa — 17 treatment rooms, Monday-to-Thursday packages starting at $252 — plus steam bath and sauna, a gym open around the clock at no charge, and hot tubs and pools heated indoors and out in every season. Easily first.

Damara Day Spa is in the building; the indoor pool runs 07:00–22:00; some suites have a whirlpool tub with the falls in view.
River Rock
Stay score 88 · Richmond · British Columbia · Map listing ↗
Absolute Spa has six rooms (open daily 10 a.m.–6 p.m.); add the gym and the pool with its slide.
Casino Rama
Stay score 78 · Rama (Orillia) · Ontario · Map listing ↗
New ground-floor spa from the current refit — saunas, steam rooms. The pool is still upstairs on level three.
Great Canadian Toronto
Stay score 87 · Toronto · Ontario · Map listing ↗
No spa here — but the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room all date from 2023.
Caesars Windsor
Stay score 86 · Windsor · Ontario · Map listing ↗
Hotel guests get a gym and sauna; the indoor pool, with its big whirlpool, admits adults only.
Closed or missing
Swimming is off at Grey Eagle until its renovation ends, although the outdoor hot tub and sauna carry on. No pool at all at Cascades Langley, and none listed by Hard Rock Ottawa.
Canada's best casino hotels for concerts and shows
For many Canadians, a gig is the first reason to book a casino hotel. Sorted biggest room first; check each age rule before buying a ticket for the whole group.

A pair of stages — the 5,000-seat OLG Stage (150 feet at most from the performers) and the 1,559-seat Avalon Theatre — and a promised 320-plus shows a year.
Caesars Windsor

Colosseum: five thousand seats, nobody farther than 225 feet, open to all ages unless a listing says otherwise.
Great Canadian Toronto

Up to 5,000 at the Theatre for concerts; Ticketmaster is the only seller.
Casino Rama
Stay score 78 · Rama (Orillia) · Ontario · Map listing ↗

Grey Eagle

Event Centre: 2,500 seats, any age, L-Acoustics sound. Ask about the Concert Night Getaway package — a room plus two tickets.
River Cree
Stay score 79 · Enoch (Edmonton) · Alberta · Map listing ↗
The Venue holds 500 to 2,500; big fights and games are shown there as watch parties.
Hard Rock Ottawa
Stay score 81 · Ottawa · Ontario · Map listing ↗
Hard Rock LIVE: 2,200 at most, 1,900 seated. Free music at weekends in the Council Oak Lounge. Strictly 19+.

Théâtre du Casino: 770 at cabaret tables or 1,100 in rows; 18+ except special events.
