Drive up Highway 400 for the 5,000-seat stage
Near Orillia, on Rama First Nation land, a resort in the middle of a refit: rooms being redone since 2025, a new spa at ground level and three new places to eat, led by Atlas Steak and Fish. The draw is still the Entertainment Centre, 5,000-plus seats, which keeps big names coming north.

The short version
Rama dates from July 1996 and sits on Rama First Nation land near Orillia. The refit dates from a November 2024 announcement by Gateway Casinos, OLG and Rama First Nation: better rooms, a bigger gym and spa, a new-look floor, more restaurants. Progress by May 2025: room work rolling upward from the second floor, and a new ground-floor spa already open.
Sleeping
289 rooms in total. The resort hasn't put out specs for the refurbished ones, so the practical tip is simple: when booking, ask which floors are finished. That question decides whether you sleep in the old Rama or the new one.
Downtime
The ground-floor spa is all saunas and steam rooms. The pool hasn't moved: third floor. A bigger fitness centre is also on the renovation list.
On stage
The Entertainment Centre, at 5,000-plus seats, ranks among Canada's biggest casino stages. Announced for late 2026: the Celtic Tenors, Colin James, Jesse Cook and the Righteous Brothers, with tickets listed at about $25 to $89.
Gaming
Gateway itself lists no machine or table numbers. Use Wikipedia's as a rough guide: 50 tables, roughly 1,800 slots, 192,000 sq ft. In May 2025 CTV reported upgraded machines and a refreshed gaming floor. Ontario age: 19.
Eating and drinking
Rama's big new table is Atlas Steak and Fish, opened in November 2025 in the old St. Germain's room — the first Ontario outpost of Gateway's signature steak-and-seafood concept, named in honour of George St. Germain, a former Rama First Nation chief who has died. Earlier openings: Chow Lucky Noodle Bar (fall 2024; bowls, soups, wok dishes), then MATCH Eatery and Public House, May 2025, by the entrance rotunda. Coffee? There's a Tim Hortons.
Around Rama
Budget roughly two hours for the Highway 400 run north from Toronto. Spare time nearby? Side trips: Hardwood Ski and Bike (skiing in winter, trails in summer), the beach and gardens at Couchiching Beach Park, and the Leacock Museum, a National Historic Site.
