Book the river side: Detroit fills the window

The biggest hotel on our list — 758 rooms in two towers, most looking straight across the river at Detroit. Downstairs: the 5,000-seat Colosseum (no seat past 225 feet) and a floor of 80-plus tables and over 2,000 slots. You stay downtown, not out by a highway exit.

The short version

Two towers, 758 rooms, one river view. Two towers to choose between: Forum, the older, and Augustus, which the resort markets to families. Address: Riverside Drive, downtown Windsor. Ask for the river side — the Detroit skyline is the reason to book.

Sleeping

Entry level is the Resort Room — roughly 402 sq ft, a king, a big desk, tub and shower apart, river outside. Refit history: 2018 brought the announcement for every one of the 758; the Forum Tower got its 55-inch screens, carpet and bedding by September 2019. Suites, smallest first: Resort Deluxe — wet bar, whirlpool tub; Junior — own living room, whirlpool only on the Forum side; Executive — marble five-piece bathroom, mirror with a screen in it, butler door, fireplace in some.

Check-in 4 p.m., check-out 11 a.m. One line to budget for: the booking page we used tacked a $23.40 resort fee onto each night, charged at checkout.

Gaming

Per the fact sheet dated August 2023: more than 2,000 slots, more than 80 tables (among them what the resort calls Ontario's only live craps), a World Series of Poker room and the Caesars Sportsbook — 1,700 sq ft, 22 big screens. Casino and bars are 19+. Caesars Rewards is the card to carry; members get first crack at Colosseum presales.

On stage

Plenty of guests come for one reason: the Colosseum. Capacity 5,000; worst seat 225 feet out, the resort says. A July 2026 announcement made it official that shows admit every age unless a listing states a limit. On the calendar when we looked: Alice Cooper, Friday, November 6, 2026.

Eating and drinking

A dress-up dinner means Neros Steakhouse. Casual picks: Café 377 (breakfast, lunch); Spago Trattoria, Italian served family-style; Johnny Rockets; Legends Sports Bar; and a Tim Hortons that never closes, ground floor of Forum. Local bands play Cosmos Lounge on Friday and Saturday nights; for the skyline, head to Vu Bar. Nightclub: none. ARIIUS left for a new home on Ouellette Avenue in January 2026.

Downtime

Pool: indoor and adults-only, with a big whirlpool, lounge chairs and towels provided. Sauna and fitness area are included for hotel guests. A spa? None among the amenities currently listed.

Getting there

Windsor International Airport is a quick taxi from downtown. Park at 257 Glengarry Avenue: six levels, all open again from July 8, 2026, after repairs that took more than a year. From Detroit, the privately operated Tunnel Bus lets you off near McDougall and University, steps from the resort — $15, no cash accepted.

Our call

Book it for a show night or a two-day downtown escape with plenty of room options. Verdict for couples: easy yes. For families: book Augustus and plan swims elsewhere.
