Plan a casino-hotel stay in Canada
Think of this as a stay planner for Canada's casino resorts. Each stay sheet answers front-desk questions in order: How do I get there? What's the room like? Where do I eat? Is the pool open? Who's on stage? How big is the floor? Every answer comes from the hotel's pages or a named source, and carries the date we checked it.

Planner's pick: River Rock Casino Resort
No car needed at either end of the trip: the Canada Line stops at the door, about about seven minutes to YVR and some eighteen to downtown Vancouver. Then there's the slide in the pool, the riverside marina and Gordon Ramsay Steak from the 2024 refit — our first suggestion for anyone flying in for a first casino-hotel weekend.
Pick a province
Fresh on the map
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa
The old Rideau Carleton site, rebuilt for $350 million; Hard Rock calls it its first fully integrated resort in Canada. Inside: a Council Oak steakhouse, a 2,200-capacity concert room and a casino that never shuts (1,500-plus slots). Age limit across the site: 19.
July 3, 2025 — Ottawa, ON
Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto
Casino Woodbine, rebuilt from the ground up as a resort next to the track. On site: free parking, a free shuttle to Pearson, a sauna and steam room by the pool, and a 5,000-capacity theatre.
Hotel 1 Aug 2023 (casino 20 June) — Toronto (Etobicoke), ON

The stay score in one paragraph
Every hotel gets a mark out of 10 for six parts of a stay. Access weighs most (25 points), food & drink and pool & spa follow (20 each), then room & view (15), the gaming floor and live shows (10 each). Multiply, add, round: that is the stay score out of 100, and a tie goes to the hotel that is easier to reach. The full method.
Planning questions
- Top stay score in Canada right now?
- Our scoring puts Fallsview Casino Resort first. Under one Niagara Falls roof: 372 rooms planned around the view, 110 tables and 3,200-plus slots, the OLG Stage for 5,000, and over 20 restaurants.
- Newest casino hotel to open in Canada?
- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa: 150 rooms, first guests on 3 July 2025. The previous newcomer was Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, whose hotel opened August 1, 2023.
- Casino entry age — 18 or 19?
- Depends on the province: 18 in Québec, Manitoba and Alberta; 19 in Ontario, B.C., New Brunswick and most others.
- Can families book a casino hotel?
- Usually: the age limit covers the floor plus a few bars and show rooms. The big exception: at Hard Rock Ottawa nobody under 19 may enter, hotel included.
