The short version

Casino Woodbine is gone; in its place, since 2023, stands Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto. Timeline: casino phase one on June 20; overnight guests from August 1, when the 400-room hotel opened. Location: Etobicoke, beside Woodbine Racetrack, a short hop from Pearson. Scale is the pitch — the operator says nobody in Canada offers more slot machines.

Sleeping

Every room is from 2023, so there's no tired wing to dodge. Standards all measure 388 sq ft, in four flavours: Racetrack Two Queen, Premium Two Queen, Racetrack King, Premium King. Want the track outside? Choose a Racetrack name — Destination Toronto says close to half the rooms look that way. Accessible rooms: grab bars and a 60-inch roll-in shower. Need space? Need more room? Families of six fit a 2-Bedroom Suite; a Corner Suite gives you the king plus a queen-size sofa bed. Both come with a microwave and fridge. Standard kit everywhere: NEST toiletries, robes, a coffee maker, a small fridge, curtains that black out the room.

House rule: the reservation has to be in the name of someone 19 or over. Kids sleep in your room but can't follow you into 19+ zones. Check-in from 4 p.m.; check-out by 11 a.m.

Gaming

When the doors opened in 2023, Global News tallied 4,800 slots and 145 table games. High-limit alone: more than 25 live tables, 210-plus slots and 15 terminals that run electronic blackjack and poker. Hotel and casino both run 24 hours. Great Canadian Rewards is free to join at 19.

On stage — and on the track

The Theatre: concerts up to 5,000, galas 1,500-plus. Buy tickets only through Ticketmaster. Next door at Woodbine, most race days cost nothing to watch and nothing to park; the fall meet listed race dates through November 29, 2026.

Eating and drinking

Steak night is Copperhorn, set on the gaming floor itself. Casual — that's literally its name — is a gastropub with deep local craft-beer taps. Two noodle counters: Lobster Legend Noodle Bar (Teochew meets Western) and Chopsticks Noodlehouse. Quick bites: gourmet pizza at Pizzaiolo, and a Food Hall where Mary Brown's Express sits beside Noodlebox and a Tim Hortons. Drinks: Northern Lights Bar (19+) for cocktails, and the all-ages Lobby Bar Grab & Go.

Downtime

Pool plus hot tub, sauna plus steam room, and a gym — that's the list. Busy day? Expect timed pool slots from the front desk.

Getting there

Free Pearson shuttle, mornings 6 a.m.–noon and afternoons 3–9 p.m. Pick-up: Terminal 3 by gates B and G, or Terminal 1 arrivals at post F3. Garage: enclosed, 3,800 spaces, self-park free; valet roughly $20 Monday to Thursday, $30 Friday to Sunday. Pets: two cats or dogs at most, under 50 lb, $49 a night plus a $49 one-off cleaning fee.

Before you go

Heads-up for autumn 2026: roughly 100 Unifor Local 1090 security officers have been locked out since July 23, 2026, and there are pickets on site. The operator's notice of October 2, 2026: casino and hotel open 24/7, restaurants on normal hours, and cars waved through the picket at least once every three minutes. Look for updates before heading over.

Our call

The GTA's best bet for fly-in visitors, concert-goers and anyone who wants the maximum number of machines in one place. Rooms are modern and efficient rather than roomy — book the Corner Suite if elbow room counts.
