Train from YVR to the door; marina out back
Skip the rental car: River Rock sits beside Bridgeport station on the Canada Line — roughly seven minutes' ride to YVR, eighteen to downtown Vancouver. Inside: 396 rooms (big suites in the Casino Tower), Canada's first Gordon Ramsay Steak, a slide in the pool, and a marina of its own on the Fraser.

The short version
Opened in 2004 on the Fraser River in Richmond, River Rock marked turning 20 with a run of upgrades. Headline change: Gordon Ramsay Steak, the first fine-dining room he has opened in Canada. New owners since June 2026: a partnership led by First Nations bought the resort from Great Canadian Entertainment. For a guest, though, what matters is the Canada Line: Bridgeport station sits next to the building.
Sleeping
Most of the 396 rooms are standard King, Two Queen or accessible King units in the Hotel Tower, every one 325 sq ft. Suites are in the Casino Tower, reached over the sky bridge. Sizes step up fast: 525–650 sq ft for one or two bedrooms; Executives with a sunken lounge; river-facing Penthouses at 1,000–1,200 sq ft; and the Presidential — fireplaces, 2,800 sq ft, a starlight ceiling over the bed. Any room: blackout curtains, a safe, a coffee maker, a small fridge. You'll need to be 19 to check in.
Eating and drinking
This is where River Rock earns its place. Book Gordon Ramsay Steak first — 28-day dry-aged beef, and a newer indoor-outdoor area facing the marina. Dim sum (10 a.m.–3 p.m.) and Chinese seafood: Sea Harbour. Sushi: KOI, by the Kuns Omakase people, in the space Miku used to fill (since 2026). Hungry late? Chopsticks Noodlehouse runs to 3 a.m.; Rock House has burgers. Buffet nights are Friday to Sunday, 4–9 p.m., in The Chairman's Room (the Grand Weekend Dinner Buffet) — $85 adults, $80 seniors, $35 children — with brunch on Sundays (09:00–15:00). Privé Bar pours daily, 11 a.m.–2 a.m.
Downtime
The pool (with its slide) is open 06:00–22:00 daily. Spa: Absolute Spa, level 2, six rooms, 10:00–18:00. There is a gym too, and the marina by the river.
Gaming and stage
The casino runs 24 hours with a poker room and racebook; entry is 19+. River Rock's website gives no slot or table counts, so neither do we. Points: Encore Rewards, the same card B.C. casinos use across the province. The Show Theatre seats 965 — right-sized for comedians and tribute bands, not arena headliners.
Fees
Add $19.99 a day per room for the resort fee. It includes the West Lot — about five minutes on foot to the entrance. Pets: $35 per animal per night, capped at three nights' charges; a bed and bowls are provided.
Our call
Passing through YVR? Nothing beats it, and the restaurants alone justify a trip. Go elsewhere for a big show; come here for dinner.
