Our newest stay sheet: Hard Rock opened in Ottawa on July 3, 2025 — in its words, a first fully integrated Hard Rock resort for Canada. One hundred and fifty rooms (22 suites), a Council Oak steakhouse, a concert hall for 2,200 and a 24-hour floor of 1,500-plus slots. Nobody under 19 gets past the lobby.

The short version
Background: the old Rideau Carleton casino site was rebuilt for $350 million, and what opened on 3 July 2025 is Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa. It is operated for OLG by Hard Rock International, which bills it as its first fully integrated resort in Canada. The rule that decides everything: you have to be 19 or older to set foot anywhere on the property — the hotel and restaurants as much as the casino.
Sleeping
150 rooms, 22 of which are suites. Both Deluxe types, Queen and King, are 389 sq ft; four people fit in the Queen. Upgrade to a Silver Suite for a sitting area, or a Gold Suite for that plus a bar corner and a standalone tub. Music lovers can ask for "Sound of Your Stay": a curated vinyl selection and a guitar delivered to the room.
Gaming
The gaming floor never closes. Expect over 1,500 slot machines, live tables dealing at all hours — blackjack, craps, roulette and mini baccarat among them — a baccarat room that's new, and VIP high-limit play. Join Unity by Hard Rock before you go: Star, Legend, Icon, then X by invitation — and members pay less for valet and the shuttle.
Shows
Hard Rock LIVE covers 23,000 sq ft — seated it takes 1,900, standing up to 2,200. The Joint scales down to 25–400 guests. No ticket? Fridays and Saturdays there is free music in the Council Oak Lounge, and the Hard Rock Cafe puts on cover and tribute acts without a cover charge.
Eating and drinking
Book Council Oak Steaks & Seafood (its model is the Council Oak at Seminole Hard Rock, Florida) or its Sunday brunch, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyday food: the Hard Rock Cafe, Brick'd Italian Kitchen, and noodles at YOUYU. Constant Grind, the Marketplace café, runs 24/7.
Downtime and parking
Body Rock gym: 24 hours, room-key entry, Technogym machines. Plan without a pool: none is listed on the published amenity pages. Valet never stops; price depends on Unity status — free for X and Icon, $10 Legend, $15 Star, $20 if you're not a member. Two EV chargers on site.
Getting there
Ottawa airport: about two miles. From the O-Train (Uplands or Leitrim) a shuttle costs $5 each way, $3.50 for Unity members — tap or card only. Next door, the raceway ran its last harness races in March 2026.
Our call
The newest rooms in the Ottawa area and the liveliest music schedule of any casino hotel this size. Great for couples and groups of friends; families should look elsewhere.
