Canada's best casino hotels for families

Last updated · facts verified

Kids and casino hotels mix better than you'd think: the age limit applies to the gaming floor and some bars, not the whole building. The variables are what there is for children to do — and, in one case, whether they're allowed through the door at all. Our order for families:

  1. River Cree Resort & Casino8.0

    Enoch (Edmonton), Alberta

Since July 29, 2024, under-18s with an adult have been welcome everywhere except the gaming areas. Public skating on two NHL-size rinks, a pool with whirlpool, a Luxury Family Suite, and a free shuttle to West Edmonton Mall — five minutes off — earn it first place.

  2. Fallsview Casino Resort9.3

    Niagara Falls, Ontario

The only no-go zone for kids is the 19+ casino. A parent has to be in the pool with under-12s, and Clifton Hill, the Butterfly Conservatory and Bird Kingdom are all within easy reach. Breakfast with the falls in the window doesn't hurt either.

  3. Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto8.7

    Toronto, Ontario

A 19-plus guest books; kids stay with them. Six sleep in the 2-Bedroom Suite (fridge and microwave included), the pool has a hot tub, and Woodbine's races next door are usually free to watch.

  4. River Rock Casino Resort8.5

    Richmond, British Columbia

Kids head straight for the pool's water slide; several of the restaurants are marked all-ages; and the Canada Line turns Vancouver into an easy day out. One condition: the adult who checks in has to be 19 or over.

  5. Casino New Brunswick7.2

    Moncton, New Brunswick

Under-19s can't book, but they can share an adult's room, and a grown-up has to watch under-12s at the pool. Day trips to Magnetic Hill and its zoo, or out to Hopewell Rocks, keep the whole crew busy.

  6. Grey Eagle Resort & Casino7.8

    Calgary (Tsuut'ina Nation), Alberta

Two-queen Standard rooms are the hotel's family pick, all ages can attend Event Centre shows, and both Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park are a short drive. With the pool closed by renovation, guests swim at city pools for free instead.

Not with kids

Leave the children at home for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa: its 19+ rule covers every door, from the lobby to the restaurants. Caesars Windsor is a closer call — the Augustus Tower is marketed to families and Colosseum shows let all ages in — but there's nowhere for kids to swim, since the pool is adults-only.
