River Cree Resort & Casino
Just beyond Edmonton's western limits, on Enoch Cree Nation land, River Cree builds a lot around its 249-room hotel: a casino among Alberta's biggest, the first Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen in Canada, a pair of NHL-size rinks and a free West Edmonton Mall shuttle. An 18-storey tower is going up on site.
Grey Eagle Resort & Casino
Calgary's casino resort sits just over the city's south-west line on Tsuut'ina Nation land, and the Nation both owns and runs it. Its hotel (178 rooms, 2014) has west-facing rooms with a Rockies view; its 2,500-seat Event Centre books strong acts; and Little Chief ranks among the West's better casino kitchens. For now, though, renovation work that runs into 2027 has closed the pool.
