Ontario's casino hotels

Last updated · facts verified

Ontario leads the country on casino hotels, and on variety: Niagara's falls-facing towers, a Windsor resort staring at Detroit, a 2023 build by Toronto's racetrack, an Ottawa Hard Rock that's 19+ throughout, and a lake-country resort outside Orillia. Every casino here runs under OLG with AGCO regulation; the entry age is 19.

Our reviews here: 5 casino hotels

Fallsview Casino Resort

Niagara Falls, Ontario · ranked #1 · 9.3/10

Picture a Canadian casino hotel and you probably picture this one. Fallsview stacks 372 view-led rooms above 3,200-plus slots and 110 tables, runs two theatres — the bigger seats 5,000 — and counts upward of 20 restaurants. Nowhere else in the country pairs that kind of scale with a waterfall outside the window.

Caesars Windsor

Windsor, Ontario · ranked #2 · 8.8/10

Caesars Windsor out-rooms every other hotel we cover: 758, split over two towers, most aimed squarely at the Detroit skyline across the river. Its Colosseum seats 5,000 with nobody farther than 225 feet from the stage, the gaming floor runs to 2,000-plus slots and 80-plus tables, and you're downtown rather than stranded off a highway.

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto

Toronto, Ontario · ranked #3 · 8.7/10

Great Canadian's Toronto resort opened in 2023 beside Woodbine Racetrack and is the region's newest big casino hotel. Expect 400 rooms, a theatre for up to 5,000, a pool with sauna and steam, free parking and a no-charge Pearson shuttle — plus what the operator calls the largest choice of slot machines anywhere in Canada.

Casino Rama Resort

Rama (Orillia), Ontario · ranked #6 · 8.2/10

On Rama First Nation land outside Orillia, Casino Rama is midway through its biggest overhaul in years — rooms renovated from 2025, a fresh ground-floor spa, and three new restaurants headed by Gateway's Atlas Steak and Fish. Its 5,000-seat Entertainment Centre keeps headliners driving up Highway 400.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa

Ottawa, Ontario · ranked #7 · 8.1/10

Ottawa's Hard Rock is the youngest property in this guide — doors opened July 3, 2025 — and Canada's first fully integrated Hard Rock resort. Inside: 150 rooms including 22 suites, a never-closing casino with 1,500-plus slots, a Council Oak steakhouse and Hard Rock LIVE, which holds 2,200. No one under 19 gets in, not even to the hotel.

Full write-ups are still to come for two more Ontario hotels. Pickering Casino Resort, east of Toronto, added 275 rooms in January 2023; Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel, near Port Perry, completed its hotel in November 2021. For now both appear on our new openings page.
