Last updated · facts verified

Ottawa's Hard Rock is the youngest property in this guide — doors opened July 3, 2025 — and Canada's first fully integrated Hard Rock resort. Inside: 150 rooms including 22 suites, a never-closing casino with 1,500-plus slots, a Council Oak steakhouse and Hard Rock LIVE, which holds 2,200. No one under 19 gets in, not even to the hotel.

Good for: Adults' weekends of live music, a good steak and a casino that runs all night.
Think twice if: Someone in your party is under 19 — even the hotel is off-limits to them.

The short version

A $350 million expansion of the former Rideau Carleton casino site produced Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, which opened its doors on July 3, 2025. Hard Rock describes it as Canada's first fully integrated Hard Rock resort; Hard Rock International runs it under OLG. The rule that decides everything: you have to be 19 or older to set foot anywhere on the property — the hotel and restaurants as much as the casino.

Sleeping

150 rooms, 22 of which are suites. Deluxe King and Deluxe Queen rooms each measure 389 sq ft; the Queen takes up to four people. Silver and Gold Suites bring a living area, and the Gold adds a bar zone and a freestanding tub. Music lovers can ask for "Sound of Your Stay": a curated vinyl selection and a guitar delivered to the room.

Gaming

The gaming floor never closes. Expect over 1,500 slot machines, live tables dealing at all hours — blackjack, craps, roulette and mini baccarat among them — a baccarat room that's new, and VIP high-limit play. Loyalty sits with Unity by Hard Rock, whose tiers are Star, Legend, Icon and the invitation-only X; membership also brings cheaper valet and shuttle rides.

On stage

Hard Rock LIVE fills 23,000 sq ft: 1,900 seated, 2,200 maximum. The Joint scales down to 25–400 guests. Weekends bring free live music on the Council Oak Lounge stage every Friday and Saturday night, and the Hard Rock Cafe books tribute and cover bands with no admission charge.

Eating and drinking

Council Oak Steaks & Seafood is modelled on the Seminole Hard Rock original in Florida and does Sunday brunch, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Casual choices: Brick'd Italian Kitchen, YOUYU Noodle Bar, Hard Rock Cafe. Constant Grind, the Marketplace café, runs 24/7.

Downtime and parking

Body Rock gym: 24 hours, room-key entry, Technogym machines. A pool doesn't appear anywhere on the hotel's published amenity pages, so assume there isn't one. Valet runs 24/7 and is priced by Unity tier — $20 non-member, $15 Star, $10 Legend, free for Icon and X. Two EV chargers on site.

Getting there

Ottawa airport: about two miles. Shuttle to the Leitrim and Uplands O-Train stations: $5 one way, or $3.50 with Unity; card or tap, no cash. Harness racing at the raceway next door finished in March 2026.

Our call

The newest rooms in the Ottawa area and the liveliest music schedule of any casino hotel this size. Great for couples and groups of friends; families should look elsewhere.
