Good for: A steak-and-slots evening in the Fraser Valley.
Think twice if: A pool or a showroom matters — there's neither.

The short version

Cascades is Gateway Casinos' Langley City property, in business since May 2005. Beds are next door at the Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre, whose 77 rooms were last refreshed in 2018. Six layouts: Coast Two Queens, Coast King, a corner Queen with a sofa bed, an accessible Queen with a roll-in shower, a Hospitality Suite with wet bar, and an Executive Suite with a balcony.

Gaming

The floor spans 80,000 sq ft with more than 1,000 slot machines and never closes; poker, bingo, blackjack and roulette round it out. Shows are a thing of the past here: in 2018 the 420-seat Summit Theatre gave way to the bingo hall.

Eating and drinking

ATLAS steak + fish is the Gateway signature brand. Match Eatery & Public House has live music and DJs; The Breakfast Room feeds hotel guests; a Sunday brunch buffet sets up weekly in the convention ballroom from 11 a.m. Glacier Bar: 11 a.m.–2 a.m.

Practicalities

Swimmers, take note: the hotel states outright that it has no pool, though the gym never closes. You can check in at 3 p.m. and must leave by noon; parking costs nothing. Pets need approval in advance and cost $25 nightly for one, $40 for two. Driving times: about an hour to YVR, around 30 minutes to Abbotsford airport. Fort Langley and the Greater Vancouver Zoo are both close.

Our call

Think of it as the Fraser Valley's dependable local: a casino first, with a tidy small hotel beside it. Resort-level extras aren't part of the deal, which is why it finishes last on our scored list.

Common questions

Does the Cascades Langley hotel have a pool?

No. The Coast hotel states it has no swimming pool.

Is there still a theatre at Cascades Langley?

No — the Summit Theatre shut in 2018 and its space became a bingo hall.
